Apostille & Attestation Services in Chennai
Apostille, attestation and Tamil translation support for Chennai students, healthcare professionals, Gulf-bound workers and exporters, with pickup.
Chennai sends large numbers of students, engineers and healthcare professionals abroad. Graduates apply for master's programmes in the US, the UK and Australia; nurses and doctors register with overseas regulators; and many families have members working in the Gulf or Singapore. The city's manufacturing exporters add a steady flow of commercial documents.
We collect documents from homes and offices across Chennai and return them by courier.
Tamil Nadu documents and state authentication
Documents are authenticated by the state that issued them before they reach the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). For Tamil Nadu, that typically means a state government department — the education department for academic records, and the Home Department or another designated department for personal documents.
Common local issuers include:
- Anna University, which awards degrees for many engineering colleges in the state, and the University of Madras
- The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, for medical, nursing and allied health degrees
- The Tamil Nadu state board, for SSLC and HSC certificates
- The Greater Chennai Corporation, for birth and death certificates
School transfer certificates and migration certificates are sometimes requested alongside degrees, so check whether your university or regulator needs them.
Students heading to the US, UK and Australia
The USA, UK and Australia all apply the Apostille Convention with India, so an MEA Apostille is the route when legalisation is requested. Many universities work from transcripts and credential evaluations rather than apostilled papers, while visa, licensing and professional bodies may want them — ask before you start.
Gulf and Singapore
For the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar, documents go through embassy attestation. Singapore has applied the Convention with India since 16 September 2021, and Oman and Saudi Arabia also accept the Apostille.
Tamil-language documents
Many certificates issued in Tamil Nadu are in Tamil or are bilingual. If the receiving authority needs an English or other-language version, our document translation service can prepare one with a translator's certificate. Whether the translation itself must be apostilled depends on the authority.

My documents are in Tamil. Do they need translating?
Possibly. If the receiving authority does not accept Tamil, it may ask for a translation into English or its own language, and sometimes for the translation itself to be legalised. Check with the authority; we can prepare the translation if needed.
Do Anna University degrees go through Tamil Nadu?
Yes. Anna University is a Tamil Nadu university, so its degrees and transcripts typically need authentication by the state's education department, after any verification the university requires, before the MEA stage.
Is an Apostille accepted in Singapore?
Yes. The Apostille Convention has been in force between India and Singapore since 16 September 2021, so an MEA Apostille is the route when a Singapore authority asks for legalisation.
I am a nurse applying abroad. Which documents usually need legalising?
Commonly your nursing degree or diploma, transcripts and related certificates, but requirements vary widely between regulators and countries. Check the regulator's document list first, then use the Service Finder to see the route.
Not sure which route your document needs?
